UGANDA PEOPLES CONGRESS WINS THE UGANDA

Uganda People's Congress (UPC) candidate Issa Otto is the new Member of Parliament for Oyam South after winning a by-election organised to fill the vacancy resulting from former MP Okullo Epak's death.

Otto polled 8,842 votes to beat closest challenger and independent candidate Nelson Adea. Adea polled 6,541 votes. National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Richard Ogwang was further back in third with 5,352 votes. The other independent candidate in the race, Ruth Adupa Atala only managed 1,111 votes.

Otto takes the seat that was occupied by Dr Okullo Epak until two months ago when the latter succumbed to cancer in a South African hospital.
